Another house project...I may have to rename this blog......

I have taken a bit of a break from sewing & quilting to get a few house projects done.  This one is an art deco era cupboard, hoosier style, that hubby surprised me with for my b'day years ago.  It has always been just plain wood with white thin board on door fronts and along the back.

Since I love the look of vintage kitchens, esp 1940's-ish I decided to paint it to match my cabinets.
Not sure why, but I always forget to take BEFORE pics!!

I can't get far enough away in my kitchen so you have to see it in sections.  I added a pic of some corner cabinets to show how it now all ties together.  I just love this color!

When will I learn to read directions......

Some of the rocks in my shower stall project are still loose after almost 9 hours.  I decided to read the back of the glue package hoping it would say that it takes 24-36 hours to fully dry. Nope....it says to apply adhesive to both surfaces, let sit for 5 minutes and then press together.  Allow 2 hours to cure.  So, either it will just take longer or I will have to reglue all the rocks.......ugh

Update - as of early this morning the stones seem to be set well.  Will give it another 12 hours before I run the water just to be sure.  I am so glad!! I was thinking that I would have to take them all off and redo the entire project.

Anyone follow Pinterest??

Its a great site for organizing all those great ideas that you want to do in your home, recipes, clothing styles, hair styles etc.

I saw a great post that showed how to make a river rock bath mat and I got inspired!  So I am in the process of lining my plastic one piece shower stall floor with river rocks.  What a difference!!  Here are before, during and after pics.

The best part is that is was so inexpensive!  I bought 12 bags of rocks from the dollar store for $12.00 and 2 tubes of outdoor/water proof adhesive from Walmart for $6.00.  Thats it!!  I had a full bag of leftover rocks when I was done, but buying extra allowed me to be more choosy on which ones I liked and used.

Let me know what you think!
I could title this Quilting with Rocks.....

Selvege Tote Makeover......

So I decided to redo the lining on my tote.  I used a different method of putting it in and it is much neater!  I also picked a brighter fabric and added an inside pocket.  Can't wait to gather more selveges and make some to sell on Etsy!!
Anyone want to send me their selveges?  I will pay for the shipping costs, please let me know...

Still playing with selveges.....

Decided it was time for a new c.c. holder and phone case.  Working with such small pieces makes it a bit tricky esp when it comes to the lining.   I am pleased with both and this version of c.c. holder is much easier to use then the other one I made awhile back.  It is just a pouch with a velcro closure and I don't have to pull everything out in order to access one card.

Selvege Bag # 2........

This one is for my wonderful daughter in law.  I made it just a bit different than the first one.  Handles are longer and thinner and there is a pocket on the inside.  I also did the lining a different way and it took 4 tries to get it right!! Only because 2x I put it in backwards.  The other time I did not like the way the handles were secured.
